One Room School

We actually had snow Sunday night. So yesterday morning I drove over and did this sketch of the old Beckley Road school sporting a coat of snow. The one room school dates way back and is on the historic register. It's an all seasons scene stealer...very pretty to look at. In addition to being a school the building has, at various times, been an antique shop. These days it mostly stands empty.

  1. Charming! Stellar drawing, Dave. Those lucky children to have such beautiful windows to look out of.

  2. HA! When I looked at this sketch I thought "Charming!" and then I read Marcia's comment! It is charming! I love the looseness of the watercolor as it plays with the elegant lifework.

  3. Your school house sketch is delightful. Reminds me of the time my husband and I camped over night in our car next to an old one room school house in northeastern South Dakota on our travels to Maine.
