Rockford Railroad Bridge

This is a sketch of the old railroad bridge that allowed trains to cross the Rogue river on their way into Rockford, Michigan...another quarter mile down the track. The rails are long gone, replaced by the White Pine State Park rails-to-trails conversion which now crosses the bridge on its way north.
The trail passes about 1/8th of a mile from my house so we often walk the trail and I enjoy cycling on it.

Under and Over

I was in downtown Rockford, Mi this afternoon and sketched our old rail bridge. Rather than tracks, these days the old bridge hosts a section of Michigan's White Pine Trail and provides a path across the Rogue river which runs through Rockford. The White Pine Trail runs well north of Rockford and is heavily used by area cyclists, runners, and walkers. It's a great trail with wonderful scenery...some of which I've seen from the seat of my bicycle as I've pedaled along the trail. The over pass provides the main highway in and out of town. Personally I prefer the trail! Following same makes for about a 10 minute walk from downtown Rockford to our new condo.

Kansas City's newest bridge

Mike inspired me to post my sketch of the KC bridge of a similar design that I drew last summer...very interesting! I usually sketch when we take Joseph to see his surgeon...

This one is the Christopher S. Bond Bridge, and it was amazing to watch it go up...
